A Simple Fact:

Israel is among the world’s leading waste-generating countries.

At Smart Waste, we use breakthrough recycling technologies to turn a growing challenge into a valuable resource - creating cleaner environments and real benefits for communities across Israel.

Today, the average person in Israel generates approximately 1.6 kg of waste per day - nearly half a ton per year.

Together, this adds up to more than 6 million tons of waste annually.

With continued population growth, that number is expected to reach at least 7 million tons per year by 2035.

The Challenge

Once waste leaves our homes and businesses

it is taken to a centralized transfer facility

where dry and wet waste streams are separated

The dry fraction is sent to industry, while the wet one is directed to landfills

As the waste decomposes, greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere.

Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide

These are greenhouse gases, resulting from human activity, that block heat emission from the Earth.
Any significant change in the amount of greenhouse gases may cause extreme changes in the weather: drought, storms, floods, diseases, the danger of extinction of plants and animals, and more.

That’s why smarter action is essential — to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions driven by human activity.

To reduce the environmental impacts of waste, the state has launched a national infrastructure project.

We are committed to continuous growth - enabling smarter waste management that improves quality of life for communities nationwide.

Reduce the number of trucks for transporting waste

Easing traffic on main routes Reducing carbon emissions as a result of the transfer process Reducing noise pollution in the vicinity

To maximize the recycling process

Treating 100% of the waste: green energy is produced from organic waste - electricity from biogas, the dry waste is extracted and returned to the industry with the help of the most advanced sorting technologies in the world.

To significantly improve the separation process of wet and dry waste

Air curtains and sealed work spaces to prevent noise and unpleasant odors

Reduce costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions

And to protect the environment, society, the economy, and all of Israel
